Community Invited to Celebrate California Biodiversity Week with Free Nature Bingo Event
PORTERVILLE, Calif. — The Tule River Parkway Association, in partnership with PCAN and the Kiwanis Club of Porterville, will host a free Nature Bingo event at the Tule River Parkway Native Plant Demonstration Gardens on Saturday, September 12, as part of California Biodiversity Week.
The community is invited to participate in this fun, family-friendly event from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The event will begin near the Jaye Street Parking Lot, located along the Tule River across Jaye Street from Harbor Freight.
Nature Bingo offers participants a unique opportunity to explore the Native Plant Demonstration Gardens while learning about the plants and natural environment along the Tule River Parkway.
Participants will receive a bingo board featuring plants found throughout the gardens. They will then explore the garden areas, locate the plants pictured on their boards, and work toward completing their bingo game.
Participants who complete their bingo game will receive a donated prize or item, while supplies last.
Local businesses and community partners have been invited to support the event by donating gift certificates, coupons, merchandise, small gift items, or other prizes for participants. These contributions help make the event more engaging while supporting a free educational activity for the community. Docents will be available throughout the gardens to assist participants with identifying plants and completing their bingo boards.
A Celebration of the Tule River Parkway
Nature Bingo is an opportunity for community members to discover the Tule River Parkway and the Native Plant Demonstration Gardens.
The gardens are planted and maintained by local volunteers and feature native plants that provide an opportunity to learn about California's diverse plant life and the importance of preserving local natural areas.
“Nature Bingo is a simple way to get families outdoors, explore the gardens, and discover the native plants growing along the Tule River Parkway,” said representatives of the Tule River Parkway Association. “We hope people of all ages will come out, enjoy the morning, and learn something new about our local environment.”
